The Westonka High School boys hockey team celebrated the contributions of standout seniors during its year-end banquet, recognizing captains Liam Grant and Collin Hagen for the impact they made both on and off the ice.

Grant concluded his Westonka career as one of the most accomplished players in program history. According to Elite Prospects, he set new program records for both goals and total points, finishing with 79 goals and 154 points during his time with the White Hawks. Hagen also leaves a lasting mark on the program. He finished his career with 55 goals and 122 points, ranking third all-time in Westonka boys hockey history.

Beyond their on-ice success, both captains were active mentors in the Westonka youth hockey program. Grant and Hagen frequently attended youth practices and events, working with younger players during both on-ice and off-ice sessions and helping to build connections across the program.

“Liam and Collin truly changed the culture of our hockey program,” said Head Coach Jeff DeGree. “They worked every day to make themselves and our team better, not just during the season but during the off-season as well. They set the standard for our players to follow in the future.”

The banquet also recognized senior Gavin Lamey, who received the team’s Hobey Baker Character Award for exemplary sportsmanship.

“Gavin has been a great teammate during his three years in our program, always willing to take whatever role best served the team,” DeGree said. “I am so happy to see him receive this award.”
