Westonka Boys Swim & Dive Celebrates a Season of Excellence

Westonka Boys Swim & Dive Celebrates a Season of Excellence
Tara Dolder

The Westonka Boys Swim & Dive team wrapped up an outstanding season with its annual awards banquet, celebrating athletic achievement, academic excellence, and the strong community that supports the program.

Top individual honors were awarded to Tyler Finley, named MVP Diver of the Season, and Eren Alemdar, who earned MVP Swimmer of the Season after a remarkable year in the pool. In addition, Tyler Finley was elected team captain for the 2026-2027 season, a reflection of his leadership, work ethic, and the respect he has earned from teammates and coaches alike.

Conference recognition was also well deserved. Seniors Sean Dolder, Wyatt Helms, and Eren Alemdar were named Wright County All Conference Swimmers, while Brody Helms received Honorable Mention Wright County All-Conference honors, highlighting the depth and competitiveness of this year’s team.

Beyond athletic success, Westonka continued to excel academically. The team earned Silver Academic Status from the MSHSL, maintaining an impressive team GPA of 3.51—a testament to the athletes’ dedication in the classroom as well as in the pool.

A meaningful highlight of the evening came during the senior speeches delivered by Wyatt Helms, Sean Dolder, and Eren Alemdar. Their reflections on teamwork, perseverance, and the bonds built through the program were heartfelt and moving, leaving a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.

The program extends sincere thanks to its generous sponsors, whose continued support makes each season possible: Dolder Plumbing & Heating, ACU HAUS Med Spa, Jubilee Foods, Kottemann Orthodontics, U.S. Bank Private Wealth Management, Fish Lake Home, Banner, Hope Filled, State Farm – Jeremy Senn Agent, and True Value.

Gratitude is also extended to the dedicated coaching staff—Ben Hanson, Josh Johnston, and Chad Johnson—for their leadership, commitment, and countless hours spent developing both strong athletes and outstanding young men.

The team would also like to thank the parents and fans for their unwavering support throughout the season and extend special appreciation to team manager Mia Dongoske for her behind-the-scenes efforts that helped keep the season running smoothly.

As this marks my final season as a senior parent, it has truly been my honor to write articles about this amazing team for the past five years. While my role may change, I will proudly continue to cheer on Westonka Boys Swim & Dive as an alumni parent. Wishing this exceptional group of young men a strong and successful 2026-2027 swim season. Go White Hawks!
