Westonka Boys Golf Places Third at Section 5AA Preview
The Westonka boys golf team turned in another busy stretch of competition, highlighted by a third-place finish at the Section 5AA preview at Pebble Creek Golf Club on April 30.
At the Cardinal Invite Best Ball on April 29 at Southbrook Golf Course in Annandale, Westonka was led by seniors Wes Foley and Logan Hill. The duo combined for a best ball 74, good for sixth place out of 36 teams. Individually, Foley posted an 82 to lead Westonka, while sophomore Erik Flom followed with an 86. Hill added an 89, and junior Chase Lee rounded out the top four with a 90.
Westonka returned to Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker on April 30 for the Section 5AA Boys Invite, competing in colder conditions with temperatures in the 40s. Facing a nine-team field, the team placed third overall. Senior Luke Sunnarborg led the way with a 79. Erik Flom continued his steady play with an 80, while Wes Foley added an 86 and Chase Lee matched that score to complete the team’s top four.
The team followed with a fourth-place finish on May 4 at the Glencoe-Silver Lake Invite at Glencoe Country Club. Competing on a windy day against a 15-team field, Westonka again showed depth across its lineup. Senior Logan Hill led the team with an 81, putting together a consistent round of 41 on the front nine and 40 on the back. Sunnarborg added an 83, while sophomore Leif Kellner also posted an 83. Senior Dillon Peterson rounded out the top four with an 88.
With a top-three finish at sections and another strong showing at Glencoe, Westonka continues to build momentum as the season progresses.
