Westonka Boys Golf Wraps Up Regular Season
The Westonka boys golf team wrapped up its regular season with a third-place finish at the Pioneer Cup on May 20 before traveling to one of Minnesota's most unique golf courses.
At Pioneer Creek Golf Course in Maple Plain, Westonka placed third in the Pioneer Cup. Senior Luke Sunnarborg paced the White Hawks with a 78, good for eighth place individually. Sophomore Leif Kellner followed with an 84, senior Logan Hill and junior Chase Lee each carded rounds of 85, and sophomore Erik Flom turned in an 86.
The following day, Westonka traveled to New York Mills for its final regular-season outing with Delano at Balhepburn Golf Club. While no official scores were kept, the trip gave players a chance to enjoy a memorable round before postseason play. The sprawling nine-hole, par-32 course overlooks Windy Lake and is perhaps best known for doubling as a sheep pasture. Its unconventional layout and rural setting offered a golfing experience unlike any other on the team's schedule.
With the regular season complete, Westonka now turns its attention to section competition. The two-day Section 5AA tournament will be held at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker on May 28 and June 1.
