Westonka Golfers Sunnarborg, Foley Earn All-Conference Honors

The Westonka boys golf team opened the Wright County Conference East Championship with its best performance of the season on May 11 at Pioneer Creek Golf Course in Maple Plain. Competing in perfect conditions, Westonka shot a season-best 309 to sit in second place after day one, just five strokes behind Delano.

Senior Luke Sunnarborg led the field after the opening round with a 71, finishing his day with birdies on three of his final four holes to shoot a back-nine 33. Senior Wes Foley turned in a career-best 76 with four birdies to sit in fifth individually. Senior Logan Hill also added a career-best 79 to move into a tie for ninth, while sophomore Erik Flom contributed an 83 to round out the team scoring.

The final round on May 13 brought tougher conditions, with strong winds making scoring more difficult across the course. Westonka ultimately finished third behind Delano and Southwest Christian after the two-day event.

Sunnarborg finished tied for fourth overall to earn All-Conference honors, while Foley also secured All-Conference recognition finishing in sixth. Flom continued his consistent play by improving to an 82 in the final round to finish tied for 15th overall.

Up next for the White Hawks is the Pioneer Cup on May 20 and a trip to Balhepburn in New York Mills on May 21.
