Westonka Softball Upsets Top-Seeded Benilde-St. Margaret’s in Section Semifinal

The Westonka softball team delivered one of its most exciting performances of the season Wednesday, upsetting top-seeded Benilde-St. Margaret’s 2-0 in the Section 6AAA semifinal game.
The No. 3-seeded White Hawks scored both runs in the fourth inning and backed it up with a dominant defensive performance to secure the shutout win and advance to the section championship round.
The White Hawks returned to action Thursday against No. 2-seeded Orono with a trip to state on the line. Westonka battled throughout the day but saw its season come to an end after back-to-back losses to the Spartans, 3-1 and 7-2.
