Westonka DECA made a strong impression at the 2026 State Career Development Conference, held March 1-3 at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis. Westonka sent a school-record 168 students to compete, and following an exceptional showing, 47 students are headed to the 2026 International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Atlanta.

The All-District Band Concert on March 8 was well received by parents and members of the community. A successful fundraiser auction preceded the concert, which involved over 280 students in grades 5 through 12 under the direction of band directors Christopher Moore and Gretchen Chilson.

Despite the drizzly and foggy weather on March 6, students around the Westonka School District eagerly headed outside with hundreds of food items they collected for the Westonka Community Food Shelf at the annual “Stuff the Bus” event. A school bus stopped at each school, where students stuffed the bus with food and cash donations collected during the March FoodShare Drive.

Westonka High School Theatre is proud to present “Clue: High School Edition” in the Westonka Performing Arts Center on March 13-15. It’s a dark and stormy night, and we’ve been invited to a very unusual dinner party. Each of the guests has an alias, the butler offers a variety of weapons, and the host is, well, dead. So, whodunit? 

Five Westonka band students were selected for the Minnesota Band Directors Association South Central Region Honor Band, which performed at Chaska High School on February 28.

The Westonka Speech Team has been crowned Wright County Conference Champion, after earning earning top honors February 26 at New London-Spicer High School. Students delivered a dominant performance to secure first place overall as a team in an incredible display of talent and hard work.

The Westonka High School music program had the honor of hosting the Section 2AA MSHSL Large Group Band Contest at the Performing Arts Center on February 23.  The bands were each adjudicated by three judges who then shared verbal and written feedback with the groups.

Even though it’s the off season, members of the White Hawks football team donned their jerseys last week for visits to Hilltop and Shirley Hills primary schools. February is "I Love to Read Month," so the players took the opportunity to celebrate the importance of reading by visiting pre-K through fourth grade classrooms to read books to the young students.

Three Westonka High School concert choir students completed their All-State Choir experience on February 14 with a performance at St. Michael-Albertville High School. Seniors Cerisa Bray and Hannah Christenson, along with junior Wade Sturlaugson began their All-State adventure last August, when they spent a week rehearsing for a concert for families and music educators.
