Students Perform with 7th-8th Grade Honor Band

Five Westonka band students were selected for the Minnesota Band Directors Association South Central Region Honor Band, which performed at Chaska High School on February 28.
Eighth graders Ellory Holt and Simon Lhotka, along with seventh graders Henry Johnson, Ben Santiago, and Sam Zayden, spent the day in intense rehearsals with Conductor Verlene Stotts before performing a beautiful concert that sounded like months of work rather than hours.
“Students arrived as individuals, left as a section, and didn’t hit a single ‘flat’ note all day (well mostly),” said WMS band director Gretchen Chilson. “They came home with new skills, new friends, and a lot to be proud of.”
