The 2026-27 Westonka High School Student Senate was elected and officially assumed their new positions last week. School-wide elections were held in May with nearly 50 students across four grades vying for a position on next year’s Student Senate.

The election process includes self-evaluation, staff evaluation, a proclamation statement, and a popular vote by the student classes. Students must hold a 2.5 GPA and adhere to strict election deadlines to become eligible to run.

Elections for Senate officers were held on May 29, when six officers were elected to serve the Senate and high school next school year. Student Senate officers include co-presidents August Lang and Valerie Mobagi, Vice President Addison Bryan, Communications Officer Amelia Holmberg, Treasurer Oliver Berg, and Secretary Alexandra Gombola.

Student Senate will begin their planning for the next school year in late July and will host their annual summer planning and leadership retreat in August.

Advisors Erica Boyles and Emily Morrow extended a huge thank you to all the wonderful candidates who stepped up to run for a leadership position in Senate. “We are so grateful for your dedication and the incredible energy you bring to our school community,” said Boyles. “Congratulations to our 2026-27 Student Senate officers -- we're so excited to work with you all next year!”
